Movie Review: The Hunger Games – Catching Fire

What could possibly be left to say about Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen? One word that comes to mind for me especially is flawless. Jennifer Lawrence gives us another flawless performance as Katniss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. As a huge fan of this franchise and of the book series, I waited for this movie for so long and circled its release date on my calendar months in advance.

The interesting part about this movie that I hope viewers will enjoy is that I was impressed at how this film stayed closer to the book than the first one did. It was very noticeable where the holes were in the first film. In this one however, the film was more geared toward the story and the plot and had less focus on action sequences.

In what I think is a very underrated casting move, Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a brilliant choice to play Plutarch Heavensbee. Mr. Hoffman has the innate ability to sink his teeth into every role that he is given and pour absolutely everything he has into it. The way this film is left in the end gives me great anticipation for when he returns in both parts of the third film.

Lastly, the on-screen chemistry with Jennifer Lawrence and both her leading men, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, still sizzles and one can genuinely see that in the face of Katniss when she tries to pick between both men.

If you have not become a fan of the books yet, or if you have not seen the movies. DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER!!! I hope you enjoy every bit of the books and the movies, just like I have!
